We are the Maya e Filhios Limitada., a Mozambican company, founded in 2006 by Maya, Ueli and Jonathan Litscher. We are originally from Switzerland but have been living in Mozambique since almost three years, where our husband and dad Thomas is working for the Swiss Development Cooperation in Mozambique. Since the middle of 2007 we have been based in the province of Niassa, where we are setting up a small eco-tourism retreat which is supposed to bring development to the local community on the one hand, and on the other hand bring people to the Niassa lake (Lake Malawi) area who are interested in getting to know the authentic Africa by making unique experiences with people and nature. All this whilst enjoying a holiday at a lodge of European standard.
Maya has been staying in her tent at the lake almost permanently, planning and coordinating the construction of Mbuna Bay. Ueli and Jonathan live in Switzerland and England, from where they organize the publicity for the lodge and the funding for the community projects. During their holidays they usually come down to Mozambique with friends to help out.
We are very much looking forward to soon welcoming you at Mbuna Bay and showing you the realization of our common dream.

P.S. In the meantime Mbuna Bay has been welcoming an increasing number of guests from around the world.
Maya has moved into her own house, Thomas to Sri Lanka, Ueli to Baltimore …. Many dear friends have come and stayed for a shorter or longer period to help and participate in the never ending adventure of Mbuna Bay.
