Welcome to Mbuna Bay

Mbuna Bay is located in northern Mozambique, on the shores of Lake Niassa (Lake Malawi). It is the only lodge on the southern stretch of the Mozambican lake coast. Despite its remote location, at about 15 km south of the Lago District's capital Metangula, it is easily accessible.

The lodge is situated directly on a beautiful 300m stretch of white sandy beach and marvellous rocky bays and is surrounded by original bush land with huge mango and baobab trees.

With only nine guest chalets Mbuna Bay offers its visitors peace, tranquility and first class comfort in an authentic African environment.

Community Development

From the very beginning, the development of the local community has been one of the major aims behind Mbuna Bay. Apart from creating employment opportunities, the lodge continuously offers various income-generating possibilities and has been implementing several projects in the areas of health, education, agriculture and community empowerment.

Eco- Commitment

In developing our dream we have created a business dedicated to the conservation of the natural environment that is transparently ecologically responsible. Before launching the project, a comprehensive environmental impact assessment was conducted and approved by the Ministry of Environment.
